TL;DR: Vault (vault.jlog.co.za) is a free online registry for artworks, designer furniture, and valuable collections. Photograph and catalogue every item, store dimensions, values, and documents in one place, and export professional reports. Vault Pro — branded PDF exports and per-client inventory management for interior designers, galleries, and collection managers — is free during early access. Built in Cape Town by JLog — the specialist fine-art and luxury logistics company and official carrier for the Investec Cape Town Art Fair.

Looking for physical safe and gun-safe moving? That’s our Safe Transport service.

What is Vault?

Vault is collection management software: a private, secure online registry where you record every item you own or manage — artworks, sculpture, designer furniture, ceramics, and other valuables. Each item gets its own record with photos, dimensions, artist or maker, purchase details, current value, location, and attached documents such as invoices and certificates of authenticity.

Most South African collectors still track collections in spreadsheets, camera rolls, or not at all. That becomes a problem the day you need to insure, move, sell, or divide a collection — or prove what you owned after a loss. Vault replaces the spreadsheet with a purpose-built registry you can access from any device.

Who Vault is for

Private collectors — know exactly what you own, what it’s worth, and where the paperwork is. When it’s time to insure or move a piece, everything is already documented.

Interior designers (Vault Pro) — manage a separate inventory per client project. Every sourced piece is catalogued with supplier, cost, and placement, then handed over to the client as a branded record of their collection.

Galleries and art consultants (Vault Pro) — track works across locations, consignments, and clients, with export-ready documentation for insurance and shipping.

What you can do with Vault

Why a logistics company built collection software

Because we handle the physical side every day. JLog collects, crates, stores, and ships fine art and designer furniture across South Africa and internationally, and we kept meeting the same problem: nobody had their collection documented. Dimensions guessed, values unknown, paperwork missing — every shipment started with detective work.

Vault fixes that. And because JLog moves the items, Vault can do something no standalone software can: when JLog transports a Vault-registered item, the shipment is recorded against it automatically — building a verified movement history over time. Your collection registry and your logistics partner, in one system.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vault really free?
Yes. The core registry is free for private collectors — and while Vault is in early access, Vault Pro is free for professionals too. Contact us and we’ll switch on the Pro features for you.

Is my collection data private?
Yes. Your registry is private to your account. Nothing is shared or published, and JLog staff only see item details when you request a service such as a shipping quote.

Can I use Vault if I’ve never shipped with JLog?
Absolutely. Vault works as standalone collection software. Using JLog for crating, shipping, or storage is optional — though when you do, your item’s details flow straight into the quote.

What items can I catalogue?
Anything of value: paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramics, designer furniture, rugs, books, wine, instruments, jewellery. If it matters enough to insure, it belongs in Vault.

Does Vault work for insurance purposes?
Vault produces a clear, itemised record with photos, values, and documents — exactly what insurers and brokers ask for when scheduling items. (Vault is a registry, not a valuation service; formal valuations still come from an accredited valuer.)

How do interior designers use Vault Pro?
Each client project gets its own inventory. As you source pieces, you catalogue them with supplier, cost, and placement details. At handover, the client receives a branded record of everything in their home — a professional touch that also protects you both.
