For particularly valuable pieces (over R100,000), we recommend arranging your own all-risks insurance to supplement our coverage. We require written documentation of the chandelier’s value and condition before transport begins.
Yes. We fully or partially disassemble chandeliers depending on their size and design complexity. We photograph the configuration before disassembly, label all components, and document wiring connections so the electrician at the destination has a clear reference for reassembly. We never force components—disassembly is methodical and careful.
Each crystal drop is individually wrapped in acid-free tissue paper first (to protect against chemical reaction with standard wrapping), then gently bubble-wrapped. Drops are stored in divided foam compartments within the custom crate so they can’t shift or knock against each other during transit. We never stack drops or compress them.
Chandelier transport costs depend on size, complexity, and distance. A medium chandelier (1–2 metres, standard disassembly) typically costs a quoted amount. Larger or more complex fixtures (with intricate crystal work or custom crating) cost a quoted amount. Long-distance moves or those requiring specialised crate construction can be higher. We provide a firm quote after assessing the chandelier in person.
A standard chandelier removal, disassembly, crating, transport, and delivery typically takes 2–3 days (disassembly and crating on day 1, transport on day 2, delivery and coordination with installer on day 3). Complex fixtures or those requiring custom crate construction may take longer. We confirm the timeline during your initial consultation.
JLog does not perform electrical installation—this must be done by a licensed electrician. However, we coordinate closely with your electrician or the installer at the destination. We deliver the fully disassembled chandelier, our assembly photographs, and all components. We verify everything has arrived intact and is ready for professional reconnection. Many clients arrange their electrician before we arrive; we work alongside them to ensure smooth installation.
Crystal and glass are individually wrapped in acid-free tissue (never plastic wrap, which can damage finishes), then bubble-wrapped. The crate is custom-fitted with foam dividers to prevent movement. Our transport vehicles are climate-controlled to avoid thermal shock. The crate is never exposed to direct sunlight, rain, or extreme temperature swings.
Yes. After disassembly and crating, chandeliers can be stored at our Woodstock facility in climate-controlled conditions for as long as you need—weeks or months.
