EXPORT · CAPE TOWN
JLog handles export freight from South Africa to the world — air, sea and courier — end to end: collection, packing and crating, export customs clearance, international carriage, and delivery at destination. We’re Cape Town based, and we hold our own SARS exporter code and lodge export declarations directly via SARS’s EDI system.
Your export cost is built from the freight, any crating, and the export customs work — quoted together, per consignment. There is no flat rate, because no two consignments are the same.
Get a quote — tell us what you are exporting, where it goes, and the rough value, and we will quote crate, freight and customs in one reply.
Our specialist edge is fragile, high-value and irregular goods — art, sculpture, designer furniture, lighting, ceramics, antiques and carpets. Each piece is packed to museum standard in ISPM-15 timber crates from our Woodstock workshop, handled with climate awareness, and photographed in and out for a condition record. For qualifying artworks we manage the SAHRA export-permit process; for temporary exports such as exhibitions and trade shows we arrange an ATA Carnet. JLog is the official carrier for the Investec Cape Town Art Fair.
Air transit is typically 3–7 days. Sea transit varies by route and is quoted per consignment; we give you the realistic window with your quote. SARS release on a clean export entry is usually same-day.
To quote and lodge your export we need a commercial invoice (goods, value, Incoterms, HS code), a packing list (per-piece dimensions and weight), and your exporter registration. For commercial exports you need your own SARS exporter code — it is free to register, and JLog can advise on registering one; see our exporter-code guide. For preferential duty at destination, add an origin certificate (EUR.1 for the EU, SADC for Africa).
There is no flat rate — every export is quoted per consignment, driven by the mode (air, sea or courier), the size and weight, any crating, the destination and the insured value. You get one written quote covering crate, freight and customs before work starts.
For commercial exports you need a SARS exporter code — it is free to register. JLog can handle the exporter-code side for one-off shipments, or advise on registering your own if you export regularly. See our exporter-code guide.
Yes — it is our specialist edge. Art, sculpture, designer furniture and antiques are packed to museum standard in ISPM-15 crates, photographed in and out, and shipped by air or sea. We manage SAHRA export permits for qualifying artworks and ATA Carnets for temporary exports.
