What is landed cost?
Landed cost is the total cost of getting imported goods to your door in South Africa — including the supplier price, sea or air freight, insurance, import duty, VAT, clearing agent fees, and port charges.
How is import VAT calculated in South Africa?
Import VAT in South Africa is 15% of the Added Tax Value (ATV). The ATV = customs value + 10% upliftment of customs value + import duty. For SACU-origin goods, the 10% upliftment does not apply.
What fees are included in landed cost?
Landed cost includes: supplier FOB value, sea or air freight, marine insurance, SARS import duty, import VAT (ATV method), clearing agent fees (typically R4,500–R7,500), and port handling and cargo dues (typically R1,800–R3,500).
How accurate is this calculator?
Duty and VAT are exact calculations based on SARS rates. Freight and clearing costs are typical ranges — actual costs vary by shipment weight, volume, route, and carrier. JLog provides exact quotes at booking.
