Don’t know the code? Photograph your invoice.
Snap a picture of your supplier invoice. We read the line items, classify the goods, and return a full South African landed-cost estimate — then we can ship and clear it for you.
What is an HS code?
A short plain-English primer — enough to get your classification right, without the jargon.
The code itself
Every imported good has an 8-digit SARS tariff code, like 9403.30. It decides your duty rate, VAT, and whether a permit applies.
How duty is worked out
Duty is charged on the FOB value of your goods at the export point. Import VAT is then calculated on the duty-inclusive value.
Why the right code matters
The wrong code means overpaying — or underpaying and facing SARS penalties. When in doubt, our brokers confirm it before you ship.
Importing or exporting? We move it and clear it.
From single artworks to full container loads of furniture, ceramics and goods of every kind — JLog arranges your freight and handles your customs clearance, start to finish.
